I am writing individual posts to all who responded to my question about the Harris book. I am always blown away by the generosity of time and spirit that I find on these lists. However, someone named Isabel answered my question about what the "fl." stood for in the book description. The description is below. I thought that the explanation was so interesting and unusual that all might enjoy it. >>>"fl" is the abbreviation for "flourished" - in genealogy or history it denotes that the person was in the public record - was known to be living at that time.<<< >>>Harris, Elisha, b. ca. 1772-1841 Family. Harris, Joseph, fl. 1775-1838 Family. Harris, Woodruff, fl. 1790-1837 Family.<<< Thanks, again Vicky Cannon
