Still seeking clues regarding the mother of my Philura NICHOLS who was born in VT in 1830. Father, Hezekiah NICHOLS, d. 1853 is buried in Chester Old Settlement Cemetery with 2nd wife Lovina (or Lavina or Levina) CHILDS, d. 1869. His first wife, Lois KELLEY, was listed in VT's records as her mother, but CHILDS is listed everywhere else. I am unable to find where/when KELLEY is buried or where/when Hezekiah married for the second time. Philura, which is listed (erroneously) some places as Philma, had several siblings who stayed in Geauga County, including Orville and Granville. It appears that the most prominent of those was her older sister Lois who married Silas GILMORE. The GILMORE family were in Ohio in the early 1800s and descendants may be members of "First Families of Ohio," an organization that I would like to know more about. If anyone could help me with that, it would be appreciated. I am primarily interested in knowing if they have some type of database or reference source. It seems that they could be an excellent source, but I'm not finding much on them to determine that.
