    1. NICHOLS - CHILDS - KELLEY - GILMORE
    2. beth-ron
    3. Still seeking clues regarding the mother of my Philura NICHOLS who was born in VT in 1830. Father, Hezekiah NICHOLS, d. 1853 is buried in Chester Old Settlement Cemetery with 2nd wife Lovina (or Lavina or Levina) CHILDS, d. 1869. His first wife, Lois KELLEY, was listed in VT's records as her mother, but CHILDS is listed everywhere else. I am unable to find where/when KELLEY is buried or where/when Hezekiah married for the second time. Philura, which is listed (erroneously) some places as Philma, had several siblings who stayed in Geauga County, including Orville and Granville. It appears that the most prominent of those was her older sister Lois who married Silas GILMORE. The GILMORE family were in Ohio in the early 1800s and descendants may be members of "First Families of Ohio," an organization that I would like to know more about. If anyone could help me with that, it would be appreciated. I am primarily interested in knowing if they have some type of database or reference source. It seems that they could be an excellent source, but I'm not finding much on them to determine that.

    1. DEATH CERTIFICATES
    2. Laura A Hine
    3. Hi: Can anyone tell me the address of where I would write in Geauga County to get a death certificate for the years 1954 and 1951. Also, what is the charge for an uncertified death certificate?? I know that I could write to the state, but I only have the year of death, and the name is Jones. So I thought that I would have better luck writing to the County itself, and that there would be a better chance of finding it. Thanks Laura Hine laura.ann.hine@juno.com

    1. HAND Research
    2. I hope that someone can give me information on finding out about the burial records and site of my grandfather and grandmother and at least two of their sons who are buried at Shadyrest Cemetery in Auburn Corners. I wrote to the Auburn Historical Society and received a computer printout that shows the owner of Lot 111 in Sect 4 is LUCIUS HAND but it shows zero for the number in that lot. Lucius died Nov. 1962 and I know for a fact that he is buried in this cemetery and there should be a marker on his grave. BESSIE L. HAND died in Burton Ohio Jan. 8, 1919 and is buried at Shadyrest per her death certificate. Son HUGH LUCIUS HAND died Jan.4,1919 and is buried at same per his death cert. Son MALCOMB W. HAND died Apr. 2,1920 and is buried at same per his death cert. Help, there must be a record of this somewhere. As a child I went there with my grandfather to decorate the graves of his family. Thanks, Penny Phanes1368@aol.com
