Does anyone have a Mrs. Hilah V. WRIGHT KINGERY in their family? I have a group picture that Hilah sent my grandfather from 1923. There are 5 couples and 3 children standing and kneeling outside on the yard. You can barely make out a house in the background. The only people in the picture I can identify for certain are my grandfather, Wilbur PRICE, grandmother, Bessie Sally SWISHER PRICE, and their daughters, Mary and Genevieve. I am almost certain one of the other couples is my great grandfather Perry SWISHER and my great grandmother Mary Ann TIPTON SWISHER. The young girl, standing, looks like she is at least 6 years old. Hilah’s daughter, Dorothy was around 6 years old in 1923, so I am thinking that might be her. The back of the picture says Mr. and Mrs. Willie Price from Mrs. Hilah V. Kingery. Taken in year 1923, July. The reason I am asking is because I am hoping someone else reading this has the same picture and may know who the other people in the picture are. Okay, it's a shot in the dark, but I have to try. Per the 1900 Gallia County census, Hilah KINGERY b. 1885 is the daughter of John T. b. 1861 and Eva L.WRIGHT b. 1866. In addition to her parents, the census lists the following siblings: Amy L. b. 1889, Retta M. b. 1890, Opal E. b. 1893, John T. Jr., 1895, and Maurice O. b. 1898. Hilah is the only family member not born in Ohio. Her state of birth is listed as Arkansas. John’s death certificate lists his wife as Eva DAVIDSON WRIGHT. John’s WRIGHT’S parents are listed as George WRIGHT, and his mother’s maiden name is listed as Elizabeth GRAHAM. It states both parents were born in Rutland, Meigs County. In 1880 the WRIGHTS and DAVIDSONS were neighbors in Gallia County, per the census. In the 1920 census, Hilah is married to William KINGERY and has one child, Dorothy E., 3 ½ years old. They are living in Franklin County, Ohio. I do not know what the relationship with my family and Hilah may have been. I have not come across any WRIGHTS in my research. However, my sister says that Mother told her once we were cousins to Mary WRIGHT, who I believe was born in the late 1930s. I can email a copy of the picture to anyone who would like to see it.
