    3. Nancy, Does this sound like it could be your John Harvey? If so, it shows that he was living in Mason County in 1874. Maybe they moved in 1870 before census was taken in Gallia County yet after they had been taken in Mason County. Sometimes you can find them by using the children's names because as we know our ancestors loved to use first names one time and middle names or initials the next time round. Sorry can't be of more help. Hope this information helps you some. Gallipolis Journal Sept. 17, 1874 John P Harvey, about 52 by suicide last Wed. Hung himself under the river bank near his residence at Glenwood landing near the lower end of Mason Co., left a wife and 6 children...followed the river most of his life...formerly lived here near the lower end of Clay Twp. -----Original Message----- >From: Nancy Edwards <nsedwards@bellsouth.net> >Sent: Apr 10, 2008 8:27 PM >To: ohgallia@rootsweb.com >Subject: [OHGALLIA] HARVEY, John and Nancy - 1860-??? > >I've been trying to find John and Nancy (Ray/Rea) Harvey in 1870. 3. Bingo - bet that's him. This is a direct line for one of my cousins, and the family lore has been that he committed suicide. Now that's interesting that the date is 1874 meaning he's alive in 1870 but I can't find him. Oh yes - I used wife's name, children's names, given names only, surname (with variant spellings) only - and nada! And interestingly, a couple of the children had different names so I thought for sure I'd get a hit with one of them, but no success as yet. Was that the extent of the newspaper blurb? Really appreciate your help. Regards, Nancy On Apr 11, 2008, at 7:14 AM, fkb wrote: > Nancy, > > Does this sound like it could be your John Harvey?
