As a list administrator of two different roots web list and the way the economy is at the present, I see a need for list like the Gallia list. It is a wonderful way for people to help others with their passion for knowledge about their families. I believe it is becoming very important for people on research list and libraries and state and county historical & genealogical societies to find ways to become more helpful to those that will not be able to travel to the homeland of their families. In fact, of all the lists that I'm subscribed, including the two I'm administrator, the gallialist is one of the best as far as people helping other people and wanting nothing in return. I also believe people need to work together instead of against each other to preserve this information. Gallia County, as one of the early populated areas of Ohio, has much history and family history to share with others and we should all be working to see this done. Unfortunately, I think that with the failing economy, many researcher are not going to be able to purchase books and items to help in their research and that is why these list and websites are important. This is also a way to show younger researcher that genealogy is fun and something you can do for a life time. (believe me, I've been doing this for 30 plus years) We should always try to help and not make people (of any age) feel like they don't know what they are doing just because we may have researched for an eternity. (LOL) This is our chance to help others and point them in the right direction to research. I see where State & County Historical & Genealogical searchable websites are going to be a wonderful source for people that are not going to be able to travel with the price of gas. This is another thing Gallia County has that many counties do not, The Gallia County Genealogical Society has a very nice searchable website and are always looking for more information for their site. I wish everyone could one day visit our beautiful county and see all we have to share with others until that time, I hope that everyone from Gallia County on this list will be very helpful and hope you break through your brick wall. Okay, I'm off my soapbox, I just wanted to let people know I think this is a great list with many knowledgeable people willing to help others.
