I think it's more a matter of logic plus the facts. David Lasley married Nancy in 1825. By 1851, she Nancy Cottrell Lasley, and daughter of Edward Cottrell, is now called Nancy Roe/Rowe. And in fact, she married a Roe in 1834. And Edward leaves property to his Lasley heirs through his daughter Nancy Cottrell Lasley Roe. Nancy Roe is on the 1850 census as wife of Cornelius. She was born about 1810 which makes her a wife of David at about 15, not unusual for then. Although I have no proof of the following I was sent in 1986 research by a woman in Utah a line showing David Lasley with wife Nancy Cottrell and that David died in 1834. This was from old family corresondence. But it agees 100% with the above Chancery suit. Henny [email protected] wrote: There is this information available in the Marriage Records, 1803-1850 book: P. 41--David Lasley and Nancy Cotrel married Jun 16 1825 P.61--Cornelius Rowe and Nancy Lasley married Jun 12 1834 However, I was unable to find any evidence that David died in 1934--no cemetery record that fits this time frame. No indication of a will or estate processed for David Lasley for this time period.
