Wow! Thanks so much! I'd wondered where Clendenin, son William's middle name, had come from. One of Solomon's daughters married Charles Clendenin, but that seemed a far-fetched choice for a middle name for a son. But an uncle's name makes more sense. Ah! Charles Clendenin (b. 1821) could be son of William and Mary Ann?? Of course, Charles's children's names are James, William, Nannie. We have a picture of Charles, with a note on the back: "Charles Clendenin who married Fanny Neal their daughter Nannie who had the ABC blocks." ... NO ... William Clendenin and Mary Ann Tillaye married 1832 after birth date of Charles Clendenin - maybe brothers? There is a Charles A. Clendenin born 1836 with daughter Mary Ann. One answer leads to a thousand questions! Must be the William Clendenin who married mother Catherine Tillaye's sister that her son William Clendenin Hayward is named after. Thanks again!
