    1. [OHGALLIA] PHELPS Researchers
    2. I am still trying to track down any information on Roswell PHELPS. Looking for people researching Roswell PHELPS OR a PHELPS ancestor born in Gallia or Meigs between 1808 and 1830 where you have not found their parents. What I know about him can be summed up in a few lines. Roswell PHELPS Married in Gallia Co. Elizabeth Aleshire in 1808 Served in the War of 1812 Found him on 1820, 1830, 1840 censuses Voted in an election in 1832 in Meigs Had 6 male children and 6 female children from what I can figure out from the censuses I have been able to locate him. In 1852 signed a deed in Meigs Co., OH I found no land deeds or will for him and no tombstone in either Gallia or Meigs. He may or may not be the father of Conrad PHELPS If you are a Phelps researcher and have a Phelps ancestor who married in Gallia or Meigs between 1820 and 1850 and you believe they are a child of Roswell or you have not identified their parents I would like to talk with you. At this stage I am looking for anything, even where Roswell may have signed a deed or will as a witness or any mention of him anywhere. I know it sounds desperate, I am. lol 8-) Roswell just shows up in 1808 and disappears just as fast without leaving much of a trail..... other than 12 children. 8-) Hope every one is high and dry and keeping cool. Thanks, Connie Cotterill-Schumaker ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

    3. Connie - have you looked thru the Roster of OH troops - roll of Joseph W. Ross' Company - Pvt. Roswell Phelps. http://www.ohiohistory.org/resource/database/rosters.html The 1860 OH census has a note on a Roswell Cain (b) 1796 saying this was Roswell Phelps ... written by M. David Phelps (July 2007). This Roswell Phelps was living in Huron Co. OH in 1860. juanita > I am still trying to track down any information on Roswell PHELPS. > > Looking for people researching Roswell PHELPS OR a PHELPS ancestor > born in Gallia or Meigs between 1808 and 1830 where you have not found > their parents. > > What I know about him can be summed up in a few lines. > Roswell PHELPS > Married in Gallia Co.
