Gallipolis Journal January 4, 1998 Edward -Jones At the home of the bride on December 29, 1897, Mr. Ellsworth E. Edwards, oldest son of Mr. Evan Edwards, of Rio Grande, and Miss Anna W. Jones, daughter of Mr. W. W. Jones, of Nebo, Gallia County, were united in marriage. The ceremony was performed by the bride's pastor, Rev. J. T. Davis, of Nebo. The best man was Mr. D. L. Jones , brother of the bride, and the bridesmaid Miss Alberta Edwards, of Columbus , sister of the groom. At precisely 12 o'clock the bridal party marched from the upper room down into the parlor and stood underneath an arch of evergreens where they were made husband and wife and recieved the congratulations of those present , after which they sat down to an elaborate dinner. only the immediate relatives of the groom and bride were present about thirty in number. They received many presents both valuable and useful. On the following day at the hhome of the goom , a reception was held by his parents for the newly married couple. There were about fifty relatives and friends present, who enjoyed a bountiful dinner. Among them the groom's grandmother, Mrs. Rickaboe,she being nearly eighty -eight years of age. Here again Mr. and Mrs. Edwards recieved the best wishes for their futrue life , and many precious gifts. The bride is held in high esteem by her many friends in Nebo, where she has always lived. She is a faithful member of the Welch Congrational church at that place. The groom is also well liked by his many firends, and is quite prominent in church work, he being the leader of the choir in Pine Church and he is also a member of the Rio Grande band, which seranaded them on the evening of their reception.
