I'd love to know more about the following: HUGH WOOD OH Army Lands Va Millitary Dist 1801 JAMES WOOD OH Army Lands Va Millitary Dist 1801 WILLIAM WOOD OH Army Lands Va Millitary Dist 1801 Or even more specifically John Wood and his wife Winifred. Bossard Library has a book entitled *Neals of Bedford Co., VA and Family of Walter Neal, Sr. Of Lawrence and Gallia Counties, Ohio.* by Chester I. Miller. These are my ancestors. Unfortunately, the book just says that following "Walter's death, in the period of 1811-1830 seven of them with their families, and with the widow Winifred, left Monroe in different groups and moved to either Lawrence or Gallia Counties in southeastern Ohio." Has anyone done any research on Winifred Wood and Walter Neal to prove them to first families? Thanks, Linda Trent

Linda, I have looked through what I have on the Wood family, many William and James Wood's and no Hugh Wood. None of the William or James's are in the correct time frame. Also I have a Winifred Wood but no husband and she was the daughter of William Mauck & Mary Koontz Wood. This was not a direct line of my father-in-law so Mary Ann did not pursue it. I have hundred's of names in the Wood family but I don't think any that will help you, sorry. I only see one Neal and that is Emory Neal that was married to Jessie Mae Carter. I wonder if she is any of Denise Ashelman's Carter's? There is some information on these Carter's but very little.
