    3. Karen, Butler Funeral Home was in Vinton , Ohio. He was killed in a traffic accident and the funeral home was sold to Vernon McCoy. Herb Moore is now the owner of the McCoy Moore Funeral home . I talked with Herb about 2 years ago about the whereabouts of the records for this funeral home. They were the property of the Butler family . I tracked them down and found that the son who was heir burned all the records from his father. It is too bad that records from the funeral homes were not perseved or thought of as valuable information. It is not uncommon to find that the family of the deceased funeral director will destroy them. I spoke with the family of Steve Thomas who had the funeral home at Centerville, those were destroyed also. The Coleman Records that were published by the Gallia County OGS Chapter were found in a dumpster after an auction in Bidwell. They were rescued and donated to the genealogical society. The Glassburn Funeral Home records may still be with the family. I had a lead on them about 6 months ago but nothing has come of that. It is tragic but not uncommon that such valuable records are destroyed. We have published the George J. Wetherholt books, Stephen's , and Miller's Funeral Home books . We are so very grateful that these were donated to the genealogical society . There is a wealth of info in them. Since I have been unable to find a death certificate for him, I thought about inquiring about this Butler. Does anyone know of this name? Thank you, Karen Ft. 3. Just a little correction, it was Stevers Funeral Home not Stephen's that the society published. This was from the Guyan Twp. area. Marjorie L.
