All John and Mary (Lehr) Carter researchers: It does not appear that any of the three first born sons of John and Mary were born in Shenandoah, Va. I have questioned this for some time and all of the sons and/or their children list Ohio as the place of birth in all of the census records. Rebecca and Nancy and their children list Virginia as their respective place of birth. I have hired genealogists to research the Carters and not one of them has checked this out. If just the first two girls were born in Virginia, then John and Mary could and most possibly are the same family that appears in Gallia County approximately 1800. Rebecca was born approximately January 1997, John and Mary married December 25, 1897 as recorded, Nancy was born late 1998. This narrows the time frame for any search in Virginia and lengthens the time frame for Gallia County. Denise
