Hi Barbara, I wanted you to know that I checked the online records in neighboring Lawrence County, Ohio, and did not see a marriage for Gilbert. I also checked the LDS website to see if they had a listing for marriage for him and did not find one there either. It was pretty common for folks to cross the river or into the next county for a marriage. West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky all come together there in that area. Don't rule any of them out. By the way, what county is Middletown in?
