    2. Transcribed without making changes to spelling and grammar. Transcribed by Joyce Robinson Athens Messenger August 3, 1876 GALLIA Gallipolis boys seem to have a weakness for fast horses. Judge Nash is at present absent from Gallipolis on an Eastern trip. A. L. Koons, of Raccoon township, had a horse killed by lightning, recently. The regular meeting of the Gallia County Medical Society was held on Wednesday. Mr. David Tate, an old and respected citizen, died at his home in Kygerville, last Thursday, aged 77 years. A new spire is to be placed on the Presbyterian Church at Gallipolis and $350 has been raised for that purpose. Fannie Conner a little 12 years old colored girl was burned to death at Gallipolis on Wednesday, July 26, by the explosion of a coal oil can which she was using in kindling a fire.
