Lawrence County is to the south of western Gallia; Jackson County is along the western border of Gallia; Vinton County is directly north of the western part of Gallia; Meigs is north of the EASTERN part of Gallia County; and Athens is directly north of Meigs..... so, Athens and Meigs would be NORTH EAST of the center of Gallia County. I keep a copy of a Rand McNally Atlas next to my computer.... not the best, for a county map source, but a great for getting a general idea of a state's layout. If you are an AAA member, they have maps available. County maps are available from ODOT or the County Engineers Office. My cousin, who works in road construction, has given me maps for several counties, they are GREAT for townships locations within the county. Actually, the "Boot" of Meigs county lies to the east of Gallia county.... across the river, part of WV, across the river again. The following is an interesting site: http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~maggie/ohio-lands/ohlands.html If you click on Michigan Survery, scroll down you will find two maps - one indicating the date each county was established, and the 2nd indicating the date they were founded (same date in some cases). Hopes this helps. SueEd NY --- Robin Fife <rr5659@dragonbbs.com> wrote: > > Athens and Hocking Counties are north west of Gallia Co.
