    1. Re: [OHGALLIA] Waddell & Womeldorff Churches
    2. Hi Diana: I see that one of your family notes is even from me dated 2001. I haven't done much research on the Gallia families since then since I have quite a bit done already. Thank you for the notes though since I see a bit in there that I didn't have. Best regards, Bob ----- Original Message ---- From: Diana M Cronhardt <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2007 10:52:36 AM Subject: Re: [OHGALLIA] Waddell & Womeldorff Churches Bob, I have some notes on your Michael and Jeannette Womeldorff family. Jeanette (Jenny) Waddell, b. 24 April 1796, Pochontas Co., d. 26 Jan 1856; m. Michael Womeldorff, b 24 Feb. 1784, Berks Co., Pa.; d. 24 April 1865, buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Book:HISTORY OF GALLIA COUNTY by H.H.Hardesty and Co. Publishers, Chicago and Toledo. 1862 p. 5 ---- Mr. Wolemdorff's father came to this county in 1801, and married Jane Waddell in 1812, and had had twelve children, seven boys and five girls, of whom three girls and two boys are deceased. >From bob#espinosa-design.com, 12 Mar 2001 As far as Michael Womeldorff, his parents were Daniel Womeldorff and Mary Warren. Daniel was born 1742-3 in Berks Co., PA and died 7 Oct 1804 in Harrisburg, PA. Mary was born 9 May 1756 also in Berks Co, and died 17 April 1821 in Gallia Co. OH. As far as Daniels, there are many. Yes, there was a Daniel who was a brother to the above Michael and he married Sarah Bing. This Daniel also had a son Daniel. However, I think you're wondering about my Daniel. He was Daniel Warren Womeldorff the brother of Jeannette that married John Eagle. Daniel W. was born 19 Sept 1813 in Gallia Co. and died 25 May 1854 in Tazewell Co., IL. He married Harriet Newell Kerr and they had eight children and the last one was named, guess what, Daniel Eugene. As I said, lots of Daniels. Womeldorff, James W. DEATH OF MR. WOMELDORFF Mr. James W. Womeldorff, stricken with paralysis at his home in Green township, near Mt. Zion Church, something like two weeks ago, departed this life Sunday evening at 6:30, August 31, 1902, near 70 years of age. His funeral services will be conducted at Mt. Zion Church, Tuesday, at 2:30 sun time, by Rev. John W. McCormick, his burial following by Wetherholt in Mt. Zion Church yard. Mr. Womeldorff was an old veteran of this county and comes from one of the pioneer families of the county. He was a son of Michael and Jane Waddell-Womeldorff, and had brothers Daniel, William, George, John, David and Frank, and sisters Mary Ann Holmes, Mrs. Janet Eagle and Mrs. J.P.R. Waddell, Frank being the last surviving member of the family. He was united in marriage with Miss Lodicia Smeltzer, a sister of John, Peter, D. M. and Henry Smeltzer, and Mrs. Nan Wigner and Mrs. John Swigert. He left children, Mrs. Cass C. Kerr of Monte Vista, Colorado, and Messrs. J. D. and L. A. Womeldorff, Miss Anna Womeldorff and Mrs. Ed. F. Hawk. He was born November 8, 1832, was kind and genial in his nature, a clever neighbor, fond of hunting and outdoor sports. He had been an invalid from an accident for a long time and gradually failed, the infirmites of old age finally overcoming him, to the regret of all.
