    3. Sue, What an odd coincidence. I joined your mailing list probably a month ago, then decided as I had nothing to offer y'all I would remove myself from the list. On a whim I opened your note about finding counties in Ohio tonight. I was sure Gallia County would be there, but Cheshire Twp? There is was! Thank you so much. I have been searching for information about my grandfather for almost eight years. Two years ago I found him on a census when he was four years old and in an orphanage in Gallia County. I knew he had "grown up" in an orphanage after the death of his father, but had no idea where he was. He was actually in the orphanage for about two years until his mother remarried. His name was Elmer Ellsworth Van Kirk, born of Sarah Jones and William Van Kirk in 1878 in Gallia Co. He was actually in the orphanage for about two years until his mother remarried. One of his daughters-in -law found a copy of his request for birth certification. He died in CA in 1946. We also knew he had a son when he married my grandmother in 1917. (Man of few words!) When I started looking for this son, at four years old in 1908 he was in the same orphanage where his father had been! I have found Hartley Lee Van Kirk in some census reports, his registration for military service in 1942 in Hawaii, but nothing of where he was born or who his mother may have been. Now I have a picture of where they were and hopefully a way to locate information about Hartley's mother and the family he indicated he had on the WWII draft registration. Thank You so Much, Sharon Lee Van Kirk Peavy ----- Original Message ----- From: "S Edwards" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, August 31, 2007 10:09 PM Subject: [OHGALLIA] Township maps > For those of you looking for township maps, I just stumbled across the > following: > > If you go to: > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page > > under "search" type in the county and state (Franklin County, OH) you > should find a page on the county, many (NOT all) have a map showing the > townships, and sometimes towns w/in the townships.
