    2. Well, Doug, Gallia County is a very interesting place. All of my mother's family--both sides---lived there since 1803--and it is believed that Northup was named after Daniel Northup, A Revolutionary Soldier from Rhode Island, from whom I descend. My grandparents left Gallia County for Michigan in 1917, but they often returned to visit family, and I visited several times when a child to see my grandparents siblings. You might try looking into census records to find out exactly where and when your family was living. Once you know the township, etc. you can find other things such as property they owned burial sites. As I said before, the library and the genealogical society and historical societies have a lot of information including family histories and books.
