    2. Doug- You will find Gallia County one of the most friendly and helpful places you will ever find! Their resources are very helpful---this is the third oldest settlement in Ohio---ca 1790--and they have preserved much of their records and heritage. 3. Pleasure to meet kind folks like you, Joanne. *Smiles* Northup is a familiar name. My mom was born on "Tick Ridge" which isn't listed on any map or chart I've found. She told me once that it was near Northup which is where the rural post office was. I have only been to Jackson once in my life when I was very young. Some of my grandma's people lived in the area including her brother Ray who just died this past June. What I am finding in my research is a link to my mother who was probably the most important person in my life. It's goofy, I guess, but it keeps the mind working. I have found the connection to Wales that I had always felt but never understood. It wasn't until I started looking into this county where my maternal ancestors seemed to settle and only rarely leave that I discovered the large Welsh population who happened on Gallipolis in the 1810's and 1830's. *Laughs* It's remarkable. Phoebe (Betz) Myers is someone I would really love to find more regarding. She was married to Joshua [James?] Myers. My mother's recollections of her grandmother were rather slight, but she did tell some good stories about this woman. Apparently, Phoebe couldn't read or write, not a rare affliction in the time period, but she was a gifted natural healer and herbalist. I have one picture of her and her husband. The other information is less certain. I could post some birth dates and death dates, I suppose, to see if it links up. Take care, Doug
