The following obiutary was taken from the "Gallipolis Tribune" newspaper on Thursday, November 14, 1901: "BOY SUICIDE. Otho Roush, aged 14 or 15, son of John Roush, Jr. Who lived about a mile and a half from Morgan Center, wanted very much to go to a ball game at the Center Sunday afternoon. His father refused to give his permission, and it is said had also attempted to restrain the boy from the use of tobacco, to which he was becoming addicted. At any rate, Otho thought that not to go to the ball game made life not worth living, and took a swallow of strychnine, from the effects of which he died in a little while, to the great distress of his people."
