The following article was printed in the "Gallipolis Bulletin" on Friday, May 30, 1902: "The trial of the case of Cecelia Roberts vs. The City of Gallipolis for damages, resulted in a hung jury. It will be remembered that Mrs. Roberts tripped and fell on Olive Street while running to catch a train last summer and broke her hip. She sued for $5000.00 damages, alleging that the accident was caused by the carelessness and neglect of the City in failing to have the sidewalk in good repair."
