    3. I wanted to thank both of you for adding to my confidence about posting here. Oh, I remembered later that I had Phoebe's maiden name wrong. Betz not Lutz. I was going through the Gallia County list of cemeteries and remembered that they often list maiden names as middle one. I have been looking at the Gallia County web page. It's kind of interesting how much information they have available for the family history buff. Eventually, I'm going to have to visit and see the records for myself. Thanks, all. Doug

    3. Doug, welcome to the list. Please do come to Gallia and visit. We are glad you've been to our website. We'd also be happy to check anything specific for you at our office at 57 Court Street. We have Probate records, family histories, lineage applications and books we've written. Henny Evans, Gallia OGS Chapter There were Betzs and Lutz both here. Still have many Betz. 3. Thanks, Henny. I was sincerely sorry to hear about the area's loss of Bob Evans last month. My mother spoke of a couple of cousins who were adopted by Mr. Evans and his wife. One of them apparently was a dean at Rio Grande College for a time. I guess it is one of those things about engaging in family history research: One learns all manner of odd trivia, only some of which is true or provable. Someday, I hope to discover what the "paw-paw fruit" actually is. Mom must have had a million stories involving this local delicacy. To this day, I am astonished at how her sisters and her survived to adulthood! *Grins* Doug Uptegraft
