Other Gallia List members: I had the same questions about the Society due to the address and phone number change at the bottom of our list. I phoned the number and reached a private residence, Ms. Ann Brown. The following day I received a direct e-mail from Henrietta Evans instructing me to leave a message on the machine (?) and Ann Brown would answer my questions. I then called the 412 Second Avenue office and verified the address and phone number, the Gallia County Society that we all have been dealing with for many, many years is still there and operating as normal. I am not sure exactly why these two women have started a new company, arranged a workshop of some sorts and have caused such confusion. Mrs. Evans has done private work for people over the years, I just thought that they had started up a company, the Inc. at the end, to do private research. I, like many of you, live out of Ohio now. My father, however, does still live in Ohio. He was born in Gallipolis and has visited the Societ! y's office and plans to do so as much as possible, as do other members of my extended family. We can all rest assured, the dedicated, helpful staff, information resources and everything that should be there, is still there, in the same place! The new company, group, whatever, is operating out of a private residence and certainly not open to the public. Gallia County has one list and a very competent, helpful staff with years of all of our families histories in house, another Society is certainly not needed. Mrs. Evans was active at the 412 Second Avenue Office for many years, it appears that she is no longer. If Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Brown are starting up their own private research Company, I wish them all the best and that would easily explain the direct correspondence to me. If this is not the case and they are attempting to divide the Gallia County researchers, I want to know why? If this is about reprints of the 1980 History book, say so, a difference of opinion ! with others, grow up, ego, get over it. Whatever the case may be, post the truth to the list for all to see. I have to question the personal contacts received by others and myself, the private home phone number and address, the Library event, etc. if the people involved have a personal agenda, other than a private business endeavor involved, motivating these actions. If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck, it is a duck! So OGS, Inc., give us all a quack. Denise Ashleman
