Now is the time to start working on applications for the Lineage Societies of Gallia County, First Family and Civil War Families of Gallia County applications will be accepted through Sept 1, 2005. This will give us time to check the applications and get the information printed for the programs. If an ancestor has been proved for First Families in the past we will accept them but because many of these files have insufficient and uncompleted documentation and we will strive to help you find other sources of proof for future generations and to possible help with other lineage societies. The Civil War and Settlers and Builder Society will have stricter rules as to what is accepted. We will only take Family History books that have been documented and written family histories will require additional documentation. Applications can be picked up at the Society office at 412 Second Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631. The applications can also be printed from forms from our website, www.gchags.com . We will also mail application to you if you contact the office or email me privately. The banquet this year will be October 8, 2005 at Grace United Methodist Church and you do not need an ancestor to attend. The banquet is to honor our First Family, Civil War Soldiers and Settlers & Builders and we would like everyone to help in the celebration. If you would like more on this weekend please contact the office or me privately and we will send you a packet. SOMETHING NEW! We will start accepting applications to the Gallia County Settlers & Builders! These ancestors will also be recognized at this Banquet. This will work on the same principle the OGS Settlers & Builders with the ancestor living in Gallia County between 1 January 1821 and 31 December 1860. The Applications are not online for this society but are at the Society office at 412 Second Avenue. Remember this is the first year for this group so plan to be a part of this new society!
