Transcribed by Joyce Robinson Athens Messenger July 12, 1888 GALLIA Lewis Tuckwiller, the old janitor of Gallia Academy at Gallipolis for so many years, was stricken with paralysis recently, dying the same day. Professor Albanus Avery Moulton, ex-President of Rio Grande College, Gallia county, died at his home near Pueblo, Colorado, on the twenty- third of June. His body will be brought to Rio Grande for burial. A heavy rain, wind and thunderstorm passed over Gallipolis, last Saturday evening about 6:40. Lightning struck two business houses and one dwelling, setting the latter on fire, but it was extinguished without much damage. The Gallipolis Journal says: The plea of insanity will be urged in Dr. Hoy's behalf for the shooting of Huskins, the colored girl, at Point Pleasant, one week ago last Saturday. His wife has withdrawn her suit for divorce, and it is said that hundreds will testify that he has been wrong for a long time. At Kyger, Gallia county, it was found necessary after the present administration came into power, to get a Democrat from a distance to serve as Postmaster, there not being a member of that party in the village. This official has just been arrested for embezzling the funds of the post office, though the latter had before been continuously in charge of a Republican for twenty-five years without a cent being found missing.
