I read with interest the discussion about the marine hospital. I was wondering if there could be any connection with the steamboats that went up and down the river after the Civil War. I am researching the Rees family...I think I am the only person on the Internet researching this family! Anyway, the Rees brothers, Charles, David, and John, turned to steamboating after the Civil War. These boys all grew up in Raccoon Twp with their parents, Charles and Elizabeth, and their sister, Elizabeth. David Rees is my great-greatgrandfather. I have look and looked for records about these steamboats, but cannot find anything, yet/ Thanks, Karen Seibert

Karen, I am going to forward this email to the Gallia County Historical/Genealogical Society and will get back with you Monday privately. I know a researcher who is tied into the Rees clan and has extensive research on them, I will forward her email address to you Monday. I am not sure if she knows about the steamboats, but she just might.
