I have just discovered an interesting historical item concerning a Gallipolis native. It seems that James Pendergast, founder of the Pendergast crime family of Kansas City, Missouri was born in Gallipolis in 1856 ! The Pendergast family sponsered Harry Truman's early political career. At least, I find it interesting...............
