    3. Listers, I would like to encourage those of you who would like to join one of the Lineage Societies that we at the Gallia County Genealogical Society are willing and able to help you search for information that will help you to file your application. I am really excited about the Settlers and Builders. Here is an opportunity for those of us who are not able to solidly prove an certain ancestor here by 1820. I know that I have several on my paternal side that I can prove solidly that they were here in 1830, and suspicion early existence but not able to prove. Now I will be able to at least register them as Gallia County Settlers and Builders. Mary Lee Davis Marchi , Marjorie Wood and myself are very willing to help you in anyway we can. You can email us personally , or you may call-740-446-7200, or write us 412 Second Avenue , Gallipolis, Ohio 45631 or email us at histsoc@zoomnet.net. We have records that can help you establish your ancestors where abouts from 1821 to 1860. This is an exciting year at the Gallia County Genealogical Society. We have great things planned for the summer months and for the Gallia County Historical/Genealogical Society's October 8, Banquet. New publications are on the horizon. We would like for you to be a part of this fresh new concept. So, please contact us and let us know how we may help you. This will give us time to check the applications and get the information printed for the programs. If an ancestor has been proved for First Families in the past we will accept them but because many of these files have insufficient and uncompleted documentation and we will strive to help you find other sources of proof for future generations and to possible help with other lineage societies. The Civil War and Settlers and Builder Society will have stricter rules as to what is accepted. We will only take Family History books that have been documented and written family histories will require additional documentation. Applications can be picked up at the Society office at 412 Second Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631. The applications can also be printed from forms from our website, www.gchags.com We will also mail application to you if you contact the office or email me privately. The banquet this year will be October 8, 2005 at Grace United Methodist Church and you do not need an ancestor to attend. The banquet is to honor our First Family, Civil War Soldiers and Settlers & Builders and we would like everyone to help in the celebration. If you would like more on this weekend please contact the office or me privately and we will send you a packet. SOMETHING NEW! We will start accepting applications to the Gallia County Settlers & Builders! These ancestors will also be recognized at this Banquet. This will work on the same principle the OGS Settlers & Builders with the ancestor living in Gallia County between 1 January 1821 and 31 December 1860. The Applications are not online for this society but are at the Society office at 412 Second Avenue. Remember this is the first year for this group so plan to be a part of this new society! If you need help with finding information on an ancestor please contact Mary Lee Marchi, Director for the Gallia County Historical & Genealogical Society or any member of the society as we have many individuals that are more than happy to help with researching. Please do not confuse the Gallia County Historical & Genealogical Society, Gallia County Historical Society or Gallia County Genealogical Society, OGS Chapter with the organization calling themselves the Gallia County Genealogical Society, OGS Chapter, Inc. ( The "Inc" group is in no way connected with our Society) If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mary Lee Marchi, Director at the society office, myself at mlwood@eurekanet.com or any Historical & Genealogical member. 3. I have joined both the societies; I have no idea on the list who is with which society. Do those communicating on the list belong to both groups or just the Gallia Co. G. Soc? I have been working with Henny Evans and love the effort she puts in. She is so kind and gracious. I am confused by the two groups, however.
