[This article was transcribed without making changes to spelling or grammar.] Athens Messenger Agust 11, 1887 GALLIA Jown S. Northrup, of Gallia county, father of Dr. W. T. Northrup, whose tragic death at the hands of the McCoys at Haverhill, Scioto County, raised such a sensation, died at his home, a few miles from Gallipolis recently, aged nearly eighty years. The death of the doctor weighed heavily upon him, and recently he received a fall, sustaining what at the time seemed to be slight injuries, but from which he never recovered. He was a prominent citizen, one of the early settlers of Gallia county, and a much respected man. Transcribed by Joyce Robinson
