Hi Joyce, This John Cooper that I am looking for the estate records of IS the one listed in the 1860 census. Who his parents were? I wish I knew! What do you have on Cunningham Sample Cooper and was he born in Maryland? Thanks for any info. Diane

Diane Cunningham Sample Cooper was born in 1788 in the York Co., PA area...in what was at that time probably considered Maryland. He was the son of John Cooper and Amelia Sample. His line goes back two more generations in York County. Cunningham seems to have moved between MD and PA during the first years of his marriage. In 1810 he was in Dauphine Co., PA, in 1820 he was in Washington Co., MD, in 1830 he was in Columbiana Co., Oh and in 1840 he was in Gallia Co., Ohio. By 1843 he had moved to Van Buren Co., Iowa. He died in California in 1864. Cunnningham was married 3 times, the first om 1808 to Eliza Young, the second in 1827 to Elizabeth Adams and the last time in 1849 to Elizabeth Sawer Stagers. Between his three wives he had 15 kids. I will send those in the next email. I have been able to find information on John, kAlexander or Stephen, three of the children of his first wife, and George and Josiah, two of the children of his second wife.The birth information comes from a list by Charlotte Cooper, his daughter.
