Hi Judy, Do to the font I am receiving, I can not tell how your last name is spelled. Is it C O R N I C K or C O M I C K.? For the reasons I stated in my last email, I belive the Matilda (Eagle) Hughes dide in 1883 at the age of 70. I also think that there is two Jackson Hughes each with a Levi Hughes as a child but a different child I think that the Levi Hughes, born in 1836, belong to Matilda Huges. She married her Jackson Hughes in 1835. Another reasond Matilda could not have died in 1853 is that, as Judy Cornick points out, Matilda's youngest child, Lucretha, was born abt 1856 accourding to the 1860 Ohio Census. Juanita- Thank you for the information about Saylor Berridge. I know that Addie married Josephus Berridge, who died young. We are trying to verify when he died and hoped that birth information would clarify that. I cannot find my birth records book from Gallia County for this time period and was hopeful someone out there might have one. Thanks again. I believe there are two different Jackson Hugheses. The Jackson who was born in 1801 is Jonathan's son. The Jackson who married Matilda Eagle-well his parents remain to be seen. I believe they are both related but I don't know how. -----Original Message----- From: Judy Cornick <judehey6670@sbcglobal.net> To: ohgallia@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 15 May 2008 3:04 pm Subject: [OHGALLIA] Jackson Hughes & Laviniah I. ASH and/or Matilda 'Milley' EAGLE Hi Connie, Thanks for all the additional information.... Got a question... concerning this paragraph..... "The book lists one wife for Jackson. I am not saying he only married once, only that the book lists one wife. According to the book Jackson and Lavinia had Margaret, Thomas, Peter, Calvin, Milton, Polly, Silas, Levi and William. Wm. date of birth was abt 1841, the youngest and Margaret the oldest was born 1824 in Harrison Co. VA/WV." Margaret, Thomas, Peter, Calvin, Milton, Polly, Silas, Levi and William. Wm. date of birth was abt 1841, the youngest and Margaret the oldest was born 1824 in Harrison Co. VA/WV) If these children are Jackson's.... something isn't right.. If Margaret, their oldest child was born in 1824... that would make Jackson 11 years old when she was born... Is it possible the kids are Jackson's siblings instead of his children....??????? Judy C. With this Census,.. the last child was b Abt. 1856... The Mother's dates were reported to be born 10 Jun 1813 & died 7 May 1853... so the last child was born after HER DEATH or her death date of 1853 is not right...... Do I have the right dates for Matilda EAGLE Hughes? Judy C. Joanne, Saylor Jennings BERRIDGE, age 21, born 13 March 1897, Gallia Co. OH, father (b) Gallia Co. OH, nearest relative Addie M. BERRIDGE, Jackson, OH, registered for World War I Draft June 5, 1918. His brother, Thomas S. BERRIDGE, (b) July 2, 1886, wife and 3 children, registered for the Draft while living in Columbus, OH. 1900 Jackson Co. OH, Jackson: Barkley BUTLER, (b) 1837, PA, age 67, Josephine BUTLER, wife, (b) May 1836, age 64, Marshey BUTLER, daughter, (b) Sept. 1874, age 25, Single, Addie BERRIDGE, (b) Sept. 1865 OH, daughter, widow, Thomas S. BERRIDGE, (b) July 1886, OH, grandson, Orpha E. BERRIDGE, (b) Oct. 1888, OH, granddaughter, Sailor J. BERRIDGE, (b) March 1897, OH, grandson, Joseph PETERSON, brother-in-law, (b) April 1833, age 67, widowed. 1920 census (same place), Addie BERRIDGE, age 54, widow, living with sister, Marshia BUTLER, age 45, single. It looks like your Saylor J. BERRIDGE was a son of Addie BUTLER BERRIDGE and ??. Check the marriage records for about 1883-1885 in Jackson Co. OH for Addie's husband's name. Also BERRIDGE deaths for c. 1897-1900 for Addie's husband. If nothing here, might also check divorce records as sometimes women called themselves a "widow" instead of saying they were divorced. juanita > > Can anyone verify the date of birth of Saylor J.
