Joyce Ahhhhhh!!! These people are a nightmare! I'm quite sure I would not have figured this stuff out without the lot of you all from this list. 3. Indeed they were hardy....but it reminds me of what Will Rogers had to say about pioneers: " I think if we just stopped and looked history in the face, a pioneer wasn't a thing in the world, but a guy that wanted something for nothing." 3. Indeed. that would be Washington County, Ohio ?? Apparently they decided to try Marietta, and once there decied to come on down the river..... Interesting. Do a google on "Kanawha Trace" for some interesting reading about pioneer migration along that river. 3. Debra John C.Cooper was listed in the ones that would get money once the land was sold. It could be that he didn't want to be a part of the suit. I know that lots of times people would much rather not get involved when a will is contested.. I had an aunt that died and left certain people money. Two of my cousins contested the will, they ended up with nothing but egg on their face. Could be that John C. didn't want any part of it. 3. Good point Charlie. My Ward ancestors came from Columbiana County, Ohio, it took me quite a while to figure out that Columbiana was as you said, a stopping off place before coming on down the river. I later found they were from Pennsylvania.
