My father apparently told the woman that he was John Scott, son of Hugh Scott - and this woman - Annie Moore (today I’ve discovered her official registered name was Anna Moore) then told my father that she was his grandson. My father replied, “Oh no, that can’t be. My grandmother is dead.” Annie Moore, according to my father then replied, “Oh, is that what they’ve told you?” [Link] __________________________________________________________________ - This article was forwarded from The Genealogue using FeedBlitz. - Your email address was not shared and you were not subscribed when you were sent this article. - Subscribe to The Genealogue email updates.

    3. ANyone who wants to do research for the southwest part of OHIO , should definately go to the Hamilton Co. Branch of the Cincinnati Library.. THey have A HUGE genealogy section and a wonderful staff to work with. My husband and I visited it and did research on his family who came from NJ into the Butler and Hamilton Co area... You really do need to see this library and do some great research there. The OHS library is just that...the one on Velma Ave. They also house the death record collection for Ohio. They were present at the OGS Conference this weekend with their database and people could make 15 minute appointments and get as many death records as possible during the time for only .25!!! One our members came home with about 8 or 10. The OGS Library is located in Mansfield and they are in a building fund drive to build a new library hopefully to open in 2009, the 50th anniversary of OGS. They announced several major contributions today and they are definitely nearing their goal. There will definitely be Hamilton Co. records available next year at the OGS Conference in Cincinnati. We also saw many book awards presented today and a 95 year old woman who has abstracted newspapers for 55 years and is still at it. They said she could talk to you and tell you your parents and grandparents just from her years of reading papers. Very impressive!! 3. > Having just returned from the OGS Conference today, > we heard talks from both OHS and the State Library of Ohio When you say State Library of Ohio, are you referring to the one over the Ohio Historical Society (the State Archives), or the OGS Library? I'm looking forward to attending the next annual meeting in Cincinnati, and maybe delving into some of the records in Hamilton County while I'm there. Linda Trent [email protected]

Maybe another time if we can get in another trip and we'll know more about the area & time restraints. 2. I am planning a trip up to Gallipolis and the surrounding area next month. My mom, step-dad, and Sister will be coming with me. We have been planning this for several months, ever since I found out my GGG - Grandmother Mary A. Lewis is buried there in Fairview (Long) Cemetery on Fairview Road. Directions only give the Road and "Section 25"? Could anyone give me a better idea on how to find the Cemetery, maybe some things to watch for? We are also going to be spending some time at the library "researching" while we are there. Hoping to gather some additional information on the family. Mary's Maiden name is Tanner and she married Stephen Lewis. He isn't buried with her (but was there with her in Census records before her death) as he returned to the place of his birth and is buried in Wattsburg, Erie County, PA - I'll be in Albion visiting my Grandmother (with my dad, another genealogist) in August and we discussing a side-trip to Wattsburg while we are there for the same reason. *G* Excited to be getting to do some "Hands On" and to see my Grandmother's grave for the first time.
