Can anyone tell me if there are records for St. Ann's Infant Asylum and Maternity Hospital in Columbus? My ggrandmother shortly after childbirth in Corning, Ohio (Perry County). The infant died 12 days later at St. Ann's according to the death certificate. My ggrandmother also left behind a 1-year-old son who, according to family rumor, spent some time in an orphanage until his step-father remarried and was able to raise him. I would suspect he was at St. Ann's as well. I'd like to know if/how long he was there. This would be around Jul/Aug 1909. My ggrandmother was Elizabeth (nee Lovasz) Matisz (death certificate says Lizzie Mytyes) who died 18 Jul 1909. The infant was John Mattes, born 17 Jul 1909, died 30 Jul 1909. Parents were listed as Lizzie Savos (should be Lovasz) and Steve Mattes (should be Matisz). My grandfather (the orphaned 1-year-old) may go by his birth name, Steve Soltesz, or by his step-father's name Steve Matisz. Elizabeth was a widower when she married Steve Matisz - just two months after my grandfather was born in 1908. My grandfather and his step-father eventually moved to McKeesport, PA. Thank you in advance. Sharon D. Guerra mailto:guerra_family@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail is redefining busy with tools for the New Busy.
