Anyone interested in reading about finding ancestors who spent time in asylum's, poor houses, or the like should read the book, Annie's Ghost by Stephen Luxenberg. It is a story about the author's aunt who he never knew existed. She died in a "mental institution" and he explains in the book how he found her records. You can buy it cheapest on Amazon.com. Good luck in your search! ________________________________ From: "ohfrankl-request@rootsweb.com" <ohfrankl-request@rootsweb.com> To: ohfrankl@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, May 5, 2010 3:00:58 AM Subject: OHFRANKL Digest, Vol 5, Issue 73 Today's Topics: 1. One block south of St. Ann's was St. Vincent's Orphanage. You might try St. Vincent's to see if they have any old records that you could examine. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharon Guerra" <guerra_family@hotmail.com> To: <ohfrankl@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 03, 2010 8:50 PM Subject: [OHFRANKL] ISO records from St. Ann's Infant Asylum and Maternity Hospital in Columbus > > I apologize - I should have changed the subject on my original email. > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > Can anyone tell me if there are records for St. Ann's Infant Asylum and > Maternity Hospital in Columbus? Thank You so much. My maternal grandmother was institutionalized from early 1920 til my birth or after in 1941. She was in Toledo. I will certainly be glad to find out how to find and get the records. My Mother was born in 1915 and has now passed and what happened to her Mother was very painful. So Thanks again for the info.
