Particularly hard hit were Columbus (95-100 dead) and Dayton (123 dead). It was caused by a combination of melting snow and ice and unprecedented rainfall in a very short time. More than 50 of the Columbus victims were buried at Green Lawn Cemetery. I just this week uploaded gravestone photos of all the victims who had stones at Green Lawn. In several instances very young children were buried with in the same grave with their mothers. I'm hoping to locate the graves of all the Columbus victims. If you're interested in reading more about the flood just Google "1913 Columbus Flood" There are several good sites with information and pictures. One of the best is http://www.ohiohistory.org/etcetera/exhibits/swio/pages/content/1913_flood.htm - - it even has a video of some of the flood along with photos.
