First did you check the Greenlawn records online to see if you could find Emerson as a father of a married woman? Second, are these Pattersons related to the Pattersons in Hardin Co., OH? There are a couple of Pattersons who married into Dardinger lines from there. The farthest I've been able to go back is that this group descends from a Robert Allen Paterson b 24 Jun 1826 in Highland Co., OH. What especially interests me is that one of these Dardinger lines is from one of my own Stephen Dardinger's children while the other is from a Jacob Dardinger who lived in Hardin Co., but which I can't join with my Stephen so far. I expect the Patterson connection indicates the two Dardinger lines are related, but I need to find a Patterson correspondent who might know something abut the situation. The problem is that Jacob and his wife both died between 1865-1870 leaving several minor children and apparently the connection didn't extend to Stephen taking in any of the children. But one, Adeline, married Joseph S Patterson son of Robert Allen. Meanwhile Joseph's sister Elizabeth Ellen married William McElroy and their son Frank McElroy married Anna Belle Ropp, daughter of Mary Anne (Dardinger) Ropp, daughter of Stephen Dardinger.
