Geneva Elnora Slaughter August 22, 2010 COSHOCTON: Geneva Elnora Slaughter, age 96, of Coshocton, formerly of Warsaw and Conesville, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Extended Care Facility at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 26, 1913 to the late Calvin and Nellie (Vickers) Stiner Smailes. Geneva attended Adams Mills High School. On June 29, 1932, she married Charles H. Slaughter who passed away on October 12, 1965. She retired in 1975 from River View School District as a custodian. Geneva was a member of the Conesville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Warsaw United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Warsaw Senior Citizens group and the Coshocton RSVP group. Geneva loved life and everything it had to offer especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, and traveling. She is survived by her children, Howard Slaughter of Frazeysburg, Polly (Ken) Pepper of Conesville, Junetta (Bob) Gwilliams of Bountiful, Utah, and Martha (Jerry) Veigel of Coshocton; 32 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 76 great-great grandchildren with three on the way; daughters-in-law, Bev Slaughter of Trinway and Dixie Slaughter of Coshocton; brother, Emerson Stiner of North Webster, IN; half brother, Bill (Betty) Smailes of Frazeysburg; and step-brother, Lowell (Lela) Smailes of New Moscow. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Orville Smailes; her husband; two sons, Gene and Jack Slaughter; three grandchildren, Jeff, Sandi, and Karen Jo Slaughter; sister, Ethel Norris; two brothers, Roy and Paul Stiner; daughter-in-law, Mildred Slaughter; step-brothers, Lorain, Dwight, and Francis Smailes; and sister-in-law, Mary Stiner. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, with Pastors Wayne Hogue and Joy Blaney officiating. Burial will follow at Frazeysburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 25 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and 10-11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
