Thank you, Barbara, for sharing with us. I'm one of those who never experienced the old downtown store--grew up in Denver, CO, and am a relative new comer to the Columbus area. Loved your mom's view of air conditioning! Just for the record, this is not one of my sites. I found it on the WOSU website (www.wosu.org). I just hope that they leave in online permanently as Lazarus, both the store and the family, have such a large place in Columbus history.
