I had to re-install my AOL software, now I'm not getting any mail from my email lists. Please let me know if you see this message. cindy este loy
I understand that one of the rootsweb mail servers was having problems for a week or so and wasn't forwarding messages to several e-mail lists. -- Ted ----- Original Message ----- From: <Prexie78@aol.com> To: <OHFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 05, 2004 11:56 AM Subject: [OHFranklin] Can anyone see this message? >I had to re-install my AOL software, now I'm not getting any mail from my > email lists. Best thing is get off AOL. There have been so many people out there with all kinds of problems with AOL as I have seen for so long. I been on Sprynet since 1997 and then is Earthlink as together and still no problem. I wouldn't change from my server at all. 7 yrs same one. Must be about best I can say. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ted Smith" <tcsmith@surewest.net> To: <OHFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 15, 2004 11:46 AM Subject: Re: [OHFranklin] Can anyone see this message? > I understand that one of the rootsweb mail servers was having problems for a > week or so and wasn't forwarding messages to several e-mail lists. > > -- Ted > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <Prexie78@aol.com> > To: <OHFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Friday, November 05, 2004 11:56 AM > Subject: [OHFranklin] Can anyone see this message? > > > >I had to re-install my AOL software, now I'm not getting any mail from my > > email lists. RootsWeb list server 5 crashed last week. A notice was sent to all list administrators and a notice was posted to the Help Desk at RootsWeb (http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/). There was no way for the various list administrators to notify subscribers--our only way to reach subscribers was not available. OHFRANKL-L and OHFRANKL-D are on list server 5. The problems have been resolved or you wouldn't be reading this message. SO here are some helpful hints to refer to when you fail to receive your own message back from any list, or when a busy list suddenly stops arriving to your mailbox: There is only one DO NOT: DO NOT send a "test" message to the list. It uses unnecessary space on the server and is nothing more or less than SPAM. DO go to the Help Desk at RootsWeb (http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/) to see if a notice is posted that might account for your problem. If the answer you need isn't posted, or if you don't know for sure--go to the next step. DO send a message to the list administrator by sending to XXXXX-admin@rootsweb.com. The administrator for this list should be reachable at OHFRANKL-admin@rootsweb.com. RootsWeb is very good about keeping list administrators up-to-date on problems that will affect the lists for any length of time. Most list administrators care about their list subscribers or they wouldn't be list administrators/hosts/owners/etc. Subscribers should always read the welcome message that comes when they subscribe to any mail list--and then they should keep it in a file on their computer or print it out and file it in a notebook or any place where it is easy to get at.
