Dear Leona, I had the monument company put my husbands complete US Navy Records-dates-numbers-ships' name, his duty, etc. on the BACK of our double stone. On the front, above his name, is the old steam engine alerting others that he was a Rail Roader. This is in an IOOF Cemetery outside of Walton, IN. You can tell, just by looking at many of the stones, what the man's occupation was by the pictures on their stones. Yesterday my daughter, Tee, and I 'toured' the quaint Port Isabelle, TX City Cemetery. There we saw several stones with Shrimper Boats etched on them. Of course, we knew these men were fishermen. All my life I have enjoyed Cemeteries, never playing in them, just looking and discussing the names, dates, etc. My husband, daughter, and I toured Cemeteries and Battlefields, including Cemeteries on our many vacations. You can learn where ever you go. Keep an open mind, check with your own records. Etchers are human, too, and dates can easily, altho they shouldn't be, transposed. Sallie
