All, I'm new to this list and would like to say hello!! I'm from Montgomery County and most of my reseach has been in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. However earlier this year I found that a cousin to my ancestor from Pennsylvania came to Ross County, Ohio. The name Scholderer is not a very common name, and is easily mis-spelled. I have seen it, as: Scholderer, Scholder, and Schoulder. The Pennsylvania spelling is Sholder, with varions: Shoulder, Shoulders, and Sholders. But the Scholderers'of Ohio kept the original spelling of Scholderer. Jacob F. Scholderer came to America after 10 March 1817 and before his marriage to Margaret Miller on 14 January 1821, in Ross County, Ohio. They had a few children that I still must complete some research on this area, but he had two sons: John F. Scholderer, born about 1828, died 22 January 1868 in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio. The second is George Scholderer, born 18 August 1831, died 14 February 1864. It seems that George married Martha Phillips and John married Sophia ???? both from Chillicothe. In "The County of Ross" history, it shows a Lida Scholderer, daughter of John and Sophia Scholderer was married to one John H. Miller. John was the son of John and Mary (Demuth) Miller. This is about as much as I have on this family and thier descendants. So after all this has been said, I'm looking for any information that maybe out there about the Scholderer family and their descendants from Ross County, Ohio. I research both male and female lines, from the common ancestor. It should also be noted that there are present day Scholderers' located in Franklin County, Ohio and some other folks that are deceased in both Franklin and Meigs County. And I beleive that they are descendants of this Ross County Scholderer family. With the help of a cousin living today in Degerloch, suburb of Stuttgart, we have been able to trace these Scholderer lines back to Martin Scholderer (died 1635), native of somewhere near Remmingsheim, Kreis Rottenburg / Neckar, Duchy of Wrttemberg [present day state of Baden-Wrttemberg, Germany]. It is my hope that someone out there can shed some additional light on this family in Ohio. Thank you for your time, Kevin L. Sholder Don't wait to make your Son a great man. Make him a great boy. --Unknown <http://www.kevin-sholder.net/genealogy/> LOCATIONS THAT I AM RESEARCHING - OHIO (Franklin, Meigs and Ross Counties) PENNSYLVANIA (Berks, Centre, Clinton, Lycoming, Northumberland and Sullivan Counties); GERMANY (Wrttemberg).
