Marriage Records of Franklin County vol 15: 186 F. E.. Richmond and Florence M. Mateer married by Daniel Locher M. G. (the minister's surname is not legible does someone know a pastor of this time with a surname something like my guess. Also what does M. G. signify?) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Marriage Records of Franklin County vol 19: 192 Wilber L. Nelson and Flora Belle Mateer married June 2, 1884 by Pastor Theo. H. Blake M.E. Church. (First name and middle initial of the minister is a guess. And the name of the church is not legible something like Eskyelets - perhaps someone knows a bit about church history in early Columbus - both mateer girls lived in Columbus before and after they were married so we assume they were married in a Columbus church....) I suppose all of the Columbus M E churches of 1884 are known? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In God I Trust - and I succeed part of the time Laus Deo Best Regards Hal
M.S. means Minister of the Gospel. Sometimes the marriages are performed by a Justice of the Peace, abbreviation J.P. Donna M.
