His father, also named Elijah Thomas, was born in Culpeper, VA...date unknown. Elijah's mother may be Mary Campbell, but there is no confirmation of this. Elijah "English" Thomas married Sarah Ann Jackson on May 18, 1867, at Pittsville, Pike County, IL. Elijah served in the GAR, and died in Brownsville, NE, on Sep. 20, 1910.
