Ok I found 263 McDowell St., on the 1930 census from ancestry.com District 84, Ward 9 Block 171 The person living there in 1930 is not William Earl Johnson so maybe he lived there later. The person whose name is hard to read rents for $10.00 month The Cahill's own 423 W. Rich St., which is around the corner and walking distance to McDowell St., according to present day mapquest.com The renters name looks like Nelker or Helker, first name looks like Byron maybe born Alabama he is listed as head then under him is a boarder named Linda wright or Fright. So maybe when the city directory people were walking around they went to 263 McDowell St., and no one was home to answer their questions and they never went back. Hope this helps.
