They are the grandparents of my best friend (28 yrs) and I am doing this for her. I am looking for John's ship and information. I know that "Baba" came on the Carpathia of Titanic fame, in March of 1921 years after him. There was a huge contingent in Columbus. So many that they had a Hall that was the Croatian hall where they celebrated. I know that Adam Zubovich went back to Croatia/Yugoslavia to visit his cousins there. Thank you all in advance. 2. Hello Marian, The Franklin Co., Ohio Marriage records 1803 - 1862 have been extracted and can be searched for at familysearch.org The following site is useful for information regarding records extracted and found in the Internation Genealogical Index on the FamilySearch site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm It may be a little out of date. The nice thing about a batch number is that you can search on just a surname if you have it. The FamilySearch searches are a little fuzzy, so you do get some variant spellings. Sometimes you can do the search directly from the batch number site. Works fine for me when I am doing scottish research, but not the U.S. Hope this helps you. I think there is some info. in the Franklin Co. Mailing list archives about writting for the actual record if you want, after finding the records date, book and page number. Would have been about two years ago, I think. Linda > Does someone have this book on early marriages who can do look-ups for > Franklin Co. Ohio marriages? My gggrandmother's sister Elizabeth Baylor married a Moses Clark in 1829 and lived in Deer Creek, Madison County until shortly after 1841. An older Franklin Clark lived near Moses in the 1840 census with a teen boy...but not sure of connection. My gmother married a man whose family lived in Georgesville area 1815-1838. This summer I plan to be in area for research...Clark family is on my list and cemetery prowling is a given. If you are still looking for info, I'll keep David Clark in mind. 3. According to the "Catholic Encyclopedia" (Robert Broderick, 1976), O.S.J. can also mean "Oblates of St. Joseph." I have seen instances in civil marriage records where a Catholic priest was designated both by "M.G." and by the abbreviation for his order. Maybe researching T. R. Cresay would clear things up. 3. Hello - I am a pastor and the only thing I can think of is 'outside jurisdiction,' meaning the pastor may have been from out-of-state, and today that would mean he performed the marriage by permission of the Ohio Secretary of State and the presiding bishop. Back then, who can say if this policy even existed - just a guess on my part.
