Hello. I requested my husband's family records from the Catholic Diocese in Columbus about 4 years ago. I took a while [several months] because they rely on volunteers, but I received all of the records I requested. Info included when the child was received, birthday, parents and their place of birth, parents' status whether living/dead, and when released from orphanage, to whom released and address. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Dr. Charles BARNES which was taken at the Bodurtha's Studio in Delaware, Ohio. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Charles likely in his 20's at the time it was taken. In addition to his name, someone has written "practiced first in Delaware then in Columbus, O" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Dr. BARNES and his family: Charles Frank BARNES b. 28 Jan 1856 in OH to parents Lewis BARNES (b. 30 Jul 1815 in Harwinton, CT) and Julia MOULTON (b. 21 Jan 1818 in Ira Township, VT). Charles married Flora BARNES (b. 1861) on 21 Apr 1881. Charles died in Columbus, OH on 5 Oct 1929. Census records provide the following: 1860 census of Delaware, OH: L. They have a Priest that is their archivists. They had some of their parish records on line, even some orphange records, but not all. I emailed and ask him to look for me, and he found the exact records I needed. In my case it was when he was accepted into the orphanage, and when he departed. He was adopted by his grandfather during this time period, and I had already found his first communion record on line. I would call and see who has the records in that area, as perhaps you can save time if they can assist you. He even scanned some records for me.
