    1. Mrs. Mary Jane Shimp
    2. I am looking for information on Mary Jane Roan Shimp. She was born August 1875 in Ohio. She and her 8 year old brother, Charles, were living in the household of Allen & A. Jane Brown in Groveport, Franklin County, Ohio in 1880. She married John E. Shimp August 31, 1892 probably in Franklin County maybe in Groveport since they were listed in the 1900 Census as residence of Groveport Precinct, Madison Twp., Franklin County, Ohio, as wife to John E. Shimp, age 29 born June 1870; Clara Belle, age 6 born July 1893; Arthur E., age 2 born November 1897 and Ralph C., age six months born January 1900. She possibly died between 1900 & 1904 in Franklin County, John E. Shimp remarried and was listed in the April 15, 1910, Census of Franklin County, Ward 8 Columbus with wife Jennie and daughters Stella age 6 and Rachel M. age 2. I would like to find an obituary, a marriage record, a listing in a city directory, death record or even a cemetery listing, anything that can help start me on a trail to her. I hope I am doing this correctly if not can someone guide me? Thank you, Dorene Shimp Morris

    3. Hello Everyone, I just wanted to clear up some confusion about the Microfilm rolls of Green Lawn Cemetery. I happen to be working on Roll 81-15 presently and so far there are 3092 records from roll 81-15...and 350 of those are singles. Even though the Records state that this is a Family Lots Roll, almost 11% of the records so far have been single grave sales which means they are not in any family lots. I've had many request for this information and thought I would share with everyone. Most of the rolls (even the ones stating single graves) will have mixes. 2. GenealogyBug
    3. In response to a few questions asked on this list today -- Franklin County Cemeteries have been "read" several times. The latest and most comprehensive (complete) reading was done between 1980 and 1988 by the members of the Franklin County Genealogical Society. These readings were published in ten volumes and can be found in many libraries, including those in other states. The eleventh volume "Corrections and Addenda" was published in 1997 and even includes new readings of a couple of cemeteries that had large numbers of accidental omissions in the earlier books. All eleven volumes are for sale by the Franklin County Genealogical Historical Society (FCGHS) and information can be found by visiting their web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohfcghs/ . They have a complete list of all their publications on the site. In some cases the books contain names obtained from actual records. Often the only names listed are those on existing gravestones simply because there are no records to copy. Fire was a frequent problem in the 19th century, floods destroyed records, and sometimes there were no records kept. Also, the Ohio Genealogical Society has compiled a wonderful new book, "Ohio Cemeteries 1803 - 2003" This is not a list of everyone buried in the state, but a guide to finding records (http://www.ogs.org/publish.htm). 3. The Ohio Historical Society has cemetery books for some Franklin Co., OH cemeteries and microfilm of Green Lawn and possibly others. Some of the Franklin Co. cemeteries are also on-line. I also believe the Genealogical Society on W. Broad used to have them (not sure). Many of the individual cemeteries will provide you with a numbered cemetery map that will show the location of particular graves. Some cemetery records are only kept by the townships or churches. -----Original Message----- From: Joyce Zentz [mailto:tadpole@cornhusker.net] Sent: Monday, July 19, 2004 6:11 PM To: OHFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [OHFranklin] Re: William McComb b. 1757 d. 1835 Truro The summer of 1994 my niece found information on my great great great grandparents graves in Blendon Old Church Pioneer Cemetery Blendon Twp., Franklin Co., Ohio in a book on Ohio cemeteries at Historical Society in Des Moines.
