The groom was Dudley Walter Curtis and the bride was Estella Carroll. The odd thing is they seem to have married again in Flagstaff, Arizona on November 19, 1894. Does anyone know why this would be? I would like to get the exact date in 1890 that they married. Thanks

I found records for the Ohio Penitentiary and branches, i.e., Junction City Brick Plant, etc. at the Ohio Historical Society. The records I saw were also only for incarcerated individuals, not employees or staff. -----Original Message----- From: Nefret8@aol.com [mailto:Nefret8@aol.com] Sent: Friday, August 06, 2004 6:57 PM To: OHFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [OHFranklin] Correctional Institute in Columbus Try this link . . . . He had at least one child (Malachi Lane) born in OH in 1806. The Malachi Lane family was in Jefferson Twp (Fayette Co.) OH for the 1830 US census; Miami Twp (Greene Co.) OH for 1840; Prairie Twp (Franklin Co.) OH for 1850; and Benton Twp (Lucas Co.) IA for the 1856 Iowa state census. What we don't know is the name of Malachi’s mother; where William (Malachi’s father) died; and who are the other siblings of Malachi. William is listed in the 1850 census in (Franklin Co.) OH with Malachi and his family but is not in the household for the 1856 (Lucas Co.) Iowa state census. However, in 1856, there is now an adopted child in the Malachi Lane household by the name of John O. Huddleston. We don't know why Malachi adopted him. One theory is that John was a nephew and maybe something happened to his family which prompted Malachi to take him in. Any info abt these unanswered questions woul! d be greatly appreciated.
Hello Bob, While I am not actively researching Knights at this time, I do have some Ohio Knights in the family line. Perhaps there is a connection somewhere. My Grandmother, Hester Knight was born in Meigs County in 1841. She was the daughter of Samuel and Martha Knight, Samuel being the son of John and Agnes Knight. Charlotte

Linda You are one of the nicest people I know. I can not thank you enough for your efforts. I have suspected that there was a mixup re: John the father and Joseph the son. This makes it clear with no solution in sight. John and Mary, the parents of Joseph, are an ignema to me. Neither my father nor my grandmother (the wife of Joseph's son Joseph) EVER mentioned John and Mary. It is as if their world stopped at Joseph and Matilda, they did not even mention the three brothers of young Joseph (or Joseph Jr. as I call him altho he is not a junior). Your input has helped and compounded my problem but that is the nature of this avocation. I will need a mailing address when you have finished your efforts so I can reimburse you. In the mean time, thank you. The "John" Quinn, died 1895 in Vol. 3 on p. 262, appears to be your "Joseph" FHL film # 0285207 - Franklin Co., Ohio Death records Vol. 3, 1889-1896 p. 262 - 8th Ward # 601 Quinn, John; Male, Death date 1895 Mch 12, Condition Single, Age 82y __m __d, Died at 40 N. 22nd, Born Ohio, Occupation Contractor, Father's name left blank, Mother's maiden name left blank, Cause of death Paulsey, Residence 40 N. 22nd # 602 Quinn, Matilda; Female, Death date 1895 Feb 9, Condition Married, Age 74y __m __d, Died at 40 N. 22nd, Born in New York, Occupation blank, Father's name blank, Mother's maiden name blank, Cause of death Old age, Residence 40 N. 22nd. These two pages on the microfilm were quite dark in some areas. I tried two different settings of the photocopier on both pages but it didn;t make much difference. The Family History Center charges $0.25 per page for photocopies from microfilm, so the total expense was $1.00. Will try to look up the other John Quinns next week. Hi Sue, I found a death record for a Martin V. Carson 1905-06 and an Annie Carson 1906-07. However, the Annie Carson was only 5 years old so, obviously, not the person you are looking for. The information for Martin V. Carson was as follows: FHL film # 0285207, Franklin Co., Ohio Death records Vol. 9 1904-1908 p. 98 Carson, Martin V.; Male, Death date 1905 Nov 13, Condition (Single, Married, Widowed) was left blank, Age 67y __m __d, Died in Infirmary, Born in Virginia, Occupation was blank, Father's name blank, Mother's maiden name blank, Cause of death Dropsy, Residence Infirmary. These indexes are not like you would find in a published book with all of the people with the surname Carson grouped together. They were done by the court clerks as they occured and are hand written. All of the surnames beginning with the letter "C" and having "a" as the first vowell are grouped together. I started my search at 1880. The following is a list of the Carsons I found: 1880 Carson, Harry N. Vol. 1, p. 154 1882 Carson, Josephine 2, 8 1882 Carson, Lulu B. 2, 16 1882 Carson, ?A.? A. 2, 23 1884 Carson, George A. 2, 94 1890 Carson, W.W. 3, 80 1890 Carson, Andrew 3, 11_ (after 110) 1894 Carson, Margaret 3, 222 1895 Carson, Erskine 3, 260 1898 Carson, Rebecca C. 4, 90 ? Carson, Wm. 4, 242 1905-6 Carson, Joseph 9, 98 (he was b. in PA) 1905-6 Carson, Martin V. 9, 98 1906-7 Carson, Annie 9, 164 Hope I have been at least some help to you. If you are interested in or curious about any of the other Carsons, let me know. I wonder if the ?A.? A. Carson who died in 1882 could be your Annie? I can try looking up the actual record next week. Hello: I am descended from Robert Culbertson of Shippensburg, PA who came to central Ohio in the late 1700's. I also have Strait in my family but not connected to the Culbertson's. I am looking to open a genealogy library in California after I receive my masters in Library Science. (probably at least 4 years from now). Also, if anyone wants to send their family pedigrees or history to me that would be great too! Feel free to email me with any questions. Thank you! Amy
